In 1874, Monet and Renoir revolutionized painting by helping to organize the first of a series of exhibitions. An art critic disparagingly dubbed their paintings nothing but sketches or impressions, most likely inspired by the title of Monet’s Impression: Sunrise. Instead of allowing the term to disparige their work however, the painters appropriated the name, starting a movement and changing the course of painting forever. Join us for a journey from Paris to sunny Provence as we go inside the brightly-hued world of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists.
