Michael Bunney is on the faculty of the Institute of Cornish Studies at the University of Exeter where he also teaches Politics and International Relations. Prior to that, he taught History and Politics in secondary schools for 21 years. Michael also teaches Cornish history in his local community and is Chairman of the Gorran Old Cornwall Society and the Gorran Parish History Society. He has been created as a Bard in the Cornish Gorsedh–a unique cultural organization which seeks to support and maintain the Celtic traditions, history, and spirit of Cornwall–and he was recently awarded the Cornish Gorsedh Awen Medal for services to the community (“kemeneth” in Cornish). While Michael is certainly an authority on the history of Cornwall in general, his scholarship is focused on Cornish history from the pre and post-Roman period to 1066 AD as well as the impact of the two World Wars on Cornwall.
